Question challenge
It has been a hot minute since I've been on Bearblog, so I figured I'd come back by answering these questions from Ava's blog.
Why did you make the blog in the first place?
I knew I wanted to talk about things that were on my mind in a public space. I also really wanted some kind of community or some way to interact with people that didn't feel as superficial as other social media platforms.
Why did you choose Bearblog?
I think I came across it several times while browsing the indie web and got curious. I was hesitant at first because I worried it would be too minimalistic. I didn't really know what to do without comments, and the tagging system seemed less robust than Dreamwidth's. Seeing as I'm still here, it turns out that it wasn't too minimalistic for my tastes. I think I like that it feels very small, calm, and slow-paced here.
Have you blogged on other platforms before?
Plenty. When I was a kid I used Blogger, I've done blog posts for work on Wordpress, and I have done some personal blogging as an adult on Dreamwidth. I still sometimes return to DW, especially if it's for (fan)fiction or sims 2 content.
Do you write your posts directly in the editor or in another software?
So far, I've written most of them in the editor, but right now I'm trying to learn Vim, so I'm forcing myself to use that.
When do you feel most inspired to write?
For some reason, it's always when I don't have access to something to write it all down, like when I'm driving a car or in the shower or something. Other than that, I feel very inspired after reading/seeing/hearing something interesting.
Do you publish immediately after writing or do you let it simmer a bit as a draft?
It depends on how good I feel about the writing. Sometimes I'm embarrassed, and in those cases the draft sits for a while. Sometimes I'm very proud, and then it's published very quickly.
Your favorite post on your blog?
I think it's between two right now:
I had some relatively interesting points to make in both, I think.
Any future plans for your blog? Maybe a redesign, changing the tag system, etc.?
I'm in the midst of a redesign right now! I really like the way that terminals look, so I'm trying to find some terminal color schemes to base my blog's vibe on. The problem is that I like lots of colors, and I'm a complete sucker for any time someone puts a name to a color palette. It somehow changes the entire thing. I've been obsessed with Rosé Pine for a bit, but I also really like the simplicity of Base2Tone. Don't even ask me which Base2Tone palette I want, though. Gah! The decisions.
