Hills
Based on this page: my dumb little hills to die on, in no particular order. I'll probably add more as they come to mind.
"Aesthetic" isn't an adjective.
I get it, language changes, but I still hate it when people use aesthetic as an adjective (i.e., that's so aesthetic). Aesthetic does not mean pretty! It's a noun!
Brain rot wasn't always a bad thing.
Speaking of language changing, I can't believe people use "brain rot" like that now. The first time I heard someone use it to mean something like the mental fuzziness you get after scrolling for too long, I thought they were using the word wrong. I literally thought they just saw the word online somewhere and assumed its meaning.
In fandom spaces it's been used for years to talk about your recent fictional fixation. For example, "I have [character, series, etc.] brainrot" meant you couldn't stop thinking about that character/series/etc. This wasn't necessarily a bad thing.
I don't know how long fandom spaces have been using that version of brainrot, but I remember saying things like that before the pandemic, at least. I don't know if the current use of brain rot came from the fandom usage or if it just independently arose.
Anyway I don't totally mind brainrot's new usage, because it does make sense, it just bugs me that nobody knows it wasn't always negative and that it's been used for a long time to mean something else.
Filmed "podcasts" are not podcasts.
If your "podcast" is filmed, there's a good chance it's not a podcast. Please just call it a talk show. I've seen several "podcasts" on YouTube where they have visual elements that they don't explain to audio-only listeners. If I can't fully understand it while not looking at the screen, it's not a podcast.
